Signa is in a beautiful location, 14 kms from Florence, immediately after the bridge on the Arno from which its name derives. The hamlet of Ponte a Signa is in the municipality of Lastra a Signa. The municipal territory occupies a portion of the lower Arno valley on the right bank of the river down to the low hills that surround the plane of Campi Bisenzio. The municipal territory extends over an area of 18.81 sq kms, is at an altitude of 46 metres and has a population of about 15,000 inhabitants.
