Situated at 160 metres above sea level, San Pietro is one of the many ancient communities in the province of Verona which date from prehistoric times. In historical and architectural terms the most important building is the parish church of San Floriano, a well-preserved Romanesque building which dates from around the 12th century. Little remains however of the castle for which the nearby village of Castelrotto is named. Given its prominence in the past, the area is home to a wealth of impressive villas and patrician residences. Villa Verità is an ancient seat which was extensively refurbished in the Neo-classical style in the last century.
