Tourist Information
The town of Capannori and the area surrounding it cover a large part of the plain and hills, which lie to the east of Lucca. It is protected to the north by the Pizzorne hills and to the south by the slopes of the Monti Pisani which face towards Lucca. The Capannori area is made up of a number of little towns and villages, many of which date back to the early Middle Ages. The area to the south is characterised by the number of distinctive towers and includes the villages of Castelvecchio di Compito, Pieve di Compito, Sant' Andrea di Compito, Colle di Compito, San Ginese, Ruota, Vorno and Guamo. We send this invitation to visit the Capannori area to everyone who is looking for a break from the pressures of city life. Here you can try local cooking, go hill-walking, mountain-biking or horse riding, and visit the Nottolini aqueduct at Guamo, and the villas and beautiful old parish churches on the hills.
