Gioiosa Marea is a small fishing town on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea, from whose magnificent, toll-free beaches one can see the Aeolian Islands sparkling on the horizon.The characteristic town centre has small shops, typical restaurants, small churches and an old palazzo. The unspoilt hilly landscape which surrounds the town is ideal for walking and trekking. The nature reserve of Marinello, with its characteristic sand dunes and three salt lakes is nearby. The coast features interesting grottoes which can be reached on foot or by boat.
