The world-wide fame of the treasures of the landscape of Acitrezza started to spread around all of Europe between the end of the Eighteenth and the beginning of the Nineteenth Century. The spokesmen of this were the travellers on the so-called Grand Tour, men of culture, mainly French, German and English men who, as well as the age-old destination of Rome, at the end of the Eighteenth Century, also started to visit the South of Italy. In addition, before the Eighteenth Century could even finish, Italy was also visited by the greatest German poet, Wolfgang Goethe, who was enchanted by Sicily, passed through Acitrezza and wrote this in his diary Italy without Sicily makes no mark on the soul here we have the key to everything.
