COMMENTO: We mostly enjoyed our stay at an apartment provided by Harmony B&B, just a few doors down the street from their main building. There were four of us and the apartment was very roomy and comfortable, with two bedrooms and a large dining/kitchen/living room area with cable TV and most utensils needed. Two things took the sparkle off the accommodations: One, the AC unit wasn't working properly and did not work properly even after we asked for and supposedly received assistance. Fortunately, it was not so hot that we were overly uncomfortable, but this meant we wanted to leave the windows open at night to cool things off. The lane in front of the building seemed to be a major cut-through for drivers and motor scooter riders and thus was very noisy both into the late-night hours and starting early in the morning. We were able to counteract this with earplugs. In other ways, the staff was helpful, including letting me use the phone to call the U.S. when a problem having nothing to do with Harmony B&B arose with one of our credit cards. The apartment and B&B are well located in terms of access to nearby attractions. The botanical gardens (our favorite spot, providing a respite from the city noise), Palazzo Steri, the museum of regional art, the museum of modern art and the waterfront parkway are all are within easy walking distance as are many cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed Palermo but I have to say that by the end of our three-night stay, we were eager to get away from scooter noise. Our next stop, Ustica, proved to be the perfect retreat! If I were to stay at Harmony again I would ask for a rear room in the main building and hope that would reduce the noise levels. I would also make sure the AC was working if it was in the summer.
