| A country inn in a Colonial Farm of the 1800s in Sicily |
The complex Masseria Susafa situated in the Polizzi Generosa commune, represents one of the most interesting examples of the 1800 colonial farms in the centre of the island and it is surrounded by mountains ranging from 560m. to 960 m. (a.s.l.). The farmhouse and all the farm land surrounding them belong to the ancient family, one of the first and most important families of the farming bourgeoisie of the Madonie region in the 1800s.
The old granary was transformed into a restaurant. The stone walls, the austere architecture of its arches, the large fireplace, the brick floors and the particular lighting confer a charming atmosphere to the whole setting. The old farmhands rooms been trasformated into new bedrooms and the restoration of the terraced houses was done in such a way so as to accommodate a comfortable living room without eliminative the rural sicilian style with their slanting wooden roof sicilian brick floors.
One of the stables has been transformed into a large drawing room where guests can relax together. Naturally one goes to a place like Susafa to be outdoors but in the evenings or when the weather is not favourable, the drawing room offers a comfortable and relaxing place to stay where you can find a book case, a place to watch television and some card tables.
Guests have a swimming pool at their disposal with a spacious area to sunbathe.
There is also a terrace where guests can relax in front of the panorama of cultivated fields.
