Saxa Rubra is located in an ancient, residential area of Rome called Prima Porta or "First Door," which refers to the first century A.D. when those coming from the north would first pass through this area to enter the city. In fact, close to the small, beautiful church of St. Urbano and Lorenzo, built in 600 A.D., there is a brick pillar that still stands as proof of the door.
It took precious time to create the environment which at last has been achieved. To promote a biologically healthy house, she chose special, difficult-to-find materials. The hand-made brick floors were created in accordance with the ancient-artisan way in an Orvieto kiln. The pride of the house is its chestnut wood, however. The excellent architectural workmanship performed by a highly talented Abruzzi carpenter together with the house's tasteful decor creates an uncommon psycho-physical harmony.
Furthermore, each room contains double-glassed windows which blocks out noise and pollution. The walls are painted with ecologically correct varnish and at night, the guest can be sure of sleeping in an electrically-magnetic-free field, as each room has been designed so that when the last light is shut off at night, electric waves are cut form entering the room.
Even the bathrooms are a pleasure for the eyes as they are just as detailed as the other rooms and contain jacuzzis and teuco shower made of copper. The house contains ancient furniture form the 800s from Tibet, China, and Scotland.

For a romantic atmosphere there is a lovely fireplace sculpted with ancient stones from Veneto, and candles. Green plants give the house a fresh, alive energy.

Saxa-Rubra, along with the innkeepers' warm and caring hospitality that can only be found in Italy, ensure that each of our guests will enjoy their stay in the eternal city of Rome.
