Geographic region of Ogliastra, in Sardinia, is considered the main entrance of "Cannonau streets" and ancient cellars of red wine. This region offers famous areas for free climbing with international trails planned by mountain climbers. The "Rifugio d'Ogliastra" is a family hotel situated in a green natural amphitheatre of calcareous "heels" where the silence will accompany your holiday in a total relax. Thanks to the position it is possible to reach easily some beautiful resorts: Ulassai, famous centre for its grottos "de Su Marmuri" visitable from April to October, considered among the most beautiful and higher of Europe. Not far from the hotel there are beautiful and well-known resorts like Arbatax, Santa Maria Navarrese: from their ports you can do tour by boat which take in several beaches and coves in the east coast like Cala Goloritzè, Cala Luna and Cala Gonone.
The "Rifugio" offers double rooms with bath and shower, bungalow style independent entrance, with a beautiful view. Possibility to have triple and single room.
Continental breakfast is served in a special room. For lunch and dinner it is possible to taste regional and international cooking, moreover in the evening pizzeria-service with wide choice. In particular it is not to ignore the wide offer of wine list.
This region consents an eno-gastronomic tour, with the well-known Cannonau wine, which includes different villages of Barbagia and Ogliastra. Around the hotel you can visit sheep-pens for the cheese-production. Reaching the near ghost-villages like Osini and Gairo Vecchio you will drop in the past to visit abandoned houses during the flood in 1952, in a good state of conservation.
Into the other Gairo (Tacquisara) there is a picturesque railway-station from where in the summer months, The ancient steam-train (Trenino Verde),leaves and travels along a panoramic tour in the Sardinian island.
