n external staircase leads to the first floor. The main entrance opens on a bright living room with a terrace over the garden. The bedrooms are on the corridor. Three large and comfortable bedrooms with bathroom (standing shower), heating and a beautiful view on the valley. Each room has its own style, and it has been furnished with old family furnishings
On the ground floor the large family kitchen overlooking the garden has been furnished with typical Tuscan style. The old original stone- walls, part of the antique tower, are one of the features of the kitchen together with the terracotta brick floor and the wooden chestnut beams. Breakfast may be taken in the fireplace corner or in the garden during the warm weather period. An alternative internal iron spiral staircase leads to a bright living room on the upper level with terrace over the garden.

In Mugello area, a strong and generous land, with an uncontaminated nature, rich in history and art. Echoes of a very important past can be found everywhere: in the numerous important residences of the Medici family, whose origins lay here, in the many Parish Churches and Convents scattered in the territory, in the hamlets where artists such as Giotto and Beato Angelico were born.
Traces of a Podere called Porcigliano have been found since the end of the Middle Ages. In the renaissance period many of the field in this area belonged to the Podere Porcigliano which was probably under the influence of the nearby Buonsollazo Abbey. With the passing of time all that was remained of the ancient tower it has been used as cowshed, sheepfolds, cellar, storage area. At the beginning of the 60's it was built the first floor to give a new house to the farmer while the ground floor (now the kitchen) was left for agricultural use. Our family bought the house in 1999 and it was completely restored in 2002/2003 with the utmost respect of the environment. Bio-building techniques have been used for the restoration of the house to give a renewed "quality in living".
The garden is a country style garden with sweet smells of lavender, thyme, sage, oregano, rosemary. Many lovely corners for relaxing and enjoying the good air or for getting together round the barbecue.
Podere Porcigliano was a rich farm estate once. The fields were abandoned progressively, and then let them fallow for long. A great work has been made to recover an old olive-grove, and increase it planting new olive trees. There is also an organic vegetable garden for seasonal vegetables. Most of the products for breakfast are from local farms and biologically grown.

Staying here you will be able to enjoy the wonderful nature and landscape of this part of Tuscany, taking the advantage of the closeness to Florence and to many nice spots of middle-age beauty.
