"La Foresteria di San Leo" Guest House is in Basilicata, in the province of Potenza, and has been created by means of clever restoration of a Benedictine hermitage from the Fourteenth Century. Guests at this farmhouse residence are treated to independent homes which are truly unique due to the lovely colours used for the various areas. The farmhouse, then, is completely surrounded by lush green nature and faces the peaks of the Lucanian Dolomites so here you are guaranteed a relaxing stay if what you are looking for is a little refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city and what you really want is contact with nature.

The rooms have all mod cons and you will appreciate the attention to detail here. Here, you are guaranteed a comfortable and peaceful holiday. The farmhouse offers guests an independent apartment, which is dominated by yellow tones and which consists of a kitchen, a living room, a master bedroom, a second bedroom with two beds and a bathroom. There is also, then, one orange room, one indigo room and a green suite with two double-size bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with separate beds), a hall/entrance area and a bathroom.

In the morning, you can enjoy your breakfast in the dining room or, when the weather is nice, in the fresh open air: in the yard or in our lovely gazebo.

Within warm and welcoming stone rooms, then, you can taste food and drink specialities from Basilicata based on the local farmers' traditions, a great chance to discover some old recipes and really nice genuine foods. You definitely should try the "Brigante" menu and dishes, this "Bandit" being a local hero, legend and menace.

We also offer regular cooking courses so you can take an active part in the creation of special menus.

The farmhouse's own little forest has wonderful natural paths which are a delight to walk through. Sports lovers can have fun practising archery, horse riding, trekking and mountain biking, using our "Path to Health" Walking Route. There is also an outdoor games area for the kids.

The farmhouse is in the perfect position for getting around Basilicata. It is, in fact, right in the heart of the Region, about 28 km from Potenza (the main city in Basilicata). Bari airport is 120 km away and Naples airport is 180 km away.

From the "Guest House", you can go on day trips (as the distance is less than 15 km) to the historic "Grancia" park, the Lucanian Dolomites and the "Gallipoli-Cognato" Nature Park.

Within a radius of 45 km, you can visit the "Castles of Frederick", the "Cantine del Vulture" Cellars and Acerenza Cathedral. It is just 80 km to Matera, the city of stones and rocky churches, the archaeological sites at Metaponto and Poliporo and some lovely beaches on the Ionian Coast.
