Fortezza de' Cortesi" is an exclusive historical country residence, full of charm, just ten minutes from the centre of San Gimignano (a UNESCO World Heritage site). Positioned on a hill dominating the surrounding landscape over 360°, with a splendid view of San Gimignano's pretty towers, it has been restructured carefully in order to maintain the beauty and authenticity of the original country villa structure. The holiday farmhouse, furnished elegantly with unique age-old furniture, in perfect harmony with the timeless atmosphere of this historical home, offers guests six double rooms with all mod cons and an independent villa for up to 12 people.

The farmhouse is surrounded by twelve hectares of land and looks onto a well-kept garden with terraces and a gazebo. Just a few metres' away, beside the olive grove, there is a large swimming pool with a pergola beneath where you can relax and let your eyes feast on the surrounding hills and woods.
The atmosphere here is refined and exclusive yet still maintains the warmth of a family-run guesthouse. The villa can be used by up to 12 people and has five double rooms (two of these rooms have twin single beds which can be joined as required and three rooms have double beds) and a splendid suite (65 square metres, for two people) which includes a lovely living room with fireplace, a large double bedroom and a very special bathroom. The flooring and the ceilings are constructed with old hand-made brick tiles, while the ceiling beams are made from chestnut. The arches, domical vaults and the lovely fireplaces still maintain the charm of times past and here it will seem like time has stopped. The other rooms have the very same warm atmosphere: the living room, where you can chat away or watch satellite TV, the studio, for reading, working or surfing the Internet in peace and quiet, and the lounge, with its ancient fireplace right beside the dining room, where you can rediscover one of the main pleasures of times past: fine cuisine.
The rooms have air-conditioning, safes and mosquito screens. All the rooms have very clean and tidy private en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs and/or showers, plus wall-fitted hairdryers. The rooms are cleaned every day.
The fine buffet breakfast includes several delights, like home-made cakes and top-quality cheeses and cold meats produced locally.
The perfect location of the farmhouse makes it the ideal base for discovering the artistic, historical and food and drink wonders of the surrounding areas and for visiting all of Tuscany's cities of art (San Gimignano, Siena, Florence, Monteriggioni and Volterra, just to mention a few).
Guests can also go trekking or go for walks in an old-age wood or go bird watching. Right nearby, you can play tennis, go on excursions, walking, on bike or one horseback, play golf or go fishing.
