Fattoria Quercia al Poggio
A Tuscan Estate: Chianti wine and wonderful views

Dating back to the 18th century, the rural village spread a top hill, 400 mt. high, in the heart of the Chianti region, in a very suggestive countryside. Vineyards and olive groves surround the group of farmhouses of which Quercia al Poggio is a well integrated part. Once upon a time about 60 persons were living in the Estate self-producing all the necessary they needed: today the village is dedicated to our guests while the Estate is producing biological wine and extra-virgin olive oil.

The property is divided in two different houses (Podere Cappella and Podere Proneta), with four independent apartments in each.

Podere Cappella: in this part of the Estate, in the heart of Fattoria Quercia al Poggio, are located four apartments, the vinification and the ageing cellar, the congress house, Vinsanteria and the consecrated Chapel which gives the name to this group of farmhouses.

Podere Proneta: this ancient colonic house is 500 meters far from Podere Cappella and it's composed by three independent apartments. From its terrace is possible enjoy the beautiful Tuscany country panorama and during the cleaner days it won't be difficult to see San Gimignano town and the hills that surrounds it.

The well exposed vineyards, favourable climate and the specific terroir of the area, are at the basis of a high quality viticulture which produces wines like Chianti Classico D.O.C.G., Riserva and the Red Tuscan Le Cataste I.G.T Quercia al Poggio. Olio extravergine, Vinsanto e Honey are the other products made.

From the oligroves around the farmstead we obtain the fruity. pleasantly bitter and slightly prickly olive oil of the "extravergine" quality: the aroma of artichoke which spreads out from this follows the traditional and typical taste of the Chianti hills.

Vinsanto is produced following the old art of Florence: a slightly sweet wine made mostly by white and partly by red grapes which is withered for some months and aged in small barrets for about 4 years in a fresh and windy place.
