A Mezza Costa
A dive into the Chianti region: the perfect backdrop for resting the mind

The "A Mezza Costa" Bed and Breakfast is just outside the town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, along the old Roman road which once linked Florence with Siena (and then Rome), on a plain, at the bottom of a steep road at the foot of the Hills. The old home in which the Bed and Breakfast is located stands alone on the sides of the Hills, as if suspended in mid air. The B&B has three fine rooms, all different and ideal for good sleep and sweet dreams!

"A Mezza Costa" is simple yet stylish and its three bedrooms are well lit and have very nice characteristic designs (though not always traditional designs!). Why not try the Pink Dream Room, which has a fine view of a typical Tuscan landscape, the Green Thought Room, furnished in early 20th-Century style, or the room which is more typically Tuscan than the others, the Sky Blue Forget-Me-Not Room, with old Tuscan brick floors and the bare and essential furnishing of old country art. Finally, the Suite, called the Orange Travel Suite, with a vaguely ethnical inspiration and a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills.

Breakfast is served in a characteristic room which used to be the old garage and, before that, probably a store room for the sale of seeds and food for livestock animals. The ingredients used for the food here are selected carefully and are always very fresh, local and seasonal. Here, you are never without fresh bread, home made cakes, cereals, yogurts and fine fruit juices.

Standing at the foot of the Hills in the Florence Chianti region, "A Mezza Costa" B&B is in the perfect position for getting to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and the Tyrrhenian Coast, or just to go looking for unexpected wonders just behind the Hills!
