Entering the house, you will step into the large living room, with fireplace, original brick floor and beam ceiling. The living room has a bookcase, satellite TV, a hi-fi system and a door onto the garden. On the left, there is a small living room in neo-classical style, that can also be used as single room. Another door leads to the laundry, with washing machine, ironing table and iron, and a small bathroom equipped with a shower. The kitchen, in a separate room, is supplied with oven, fridge, dining table, American coffee machine and plenty of pots and utensils. The dining room, accessible both from the kitchen and from the stairs, has a stone fireplace, brick floor, beam ceiling, door with direct access to the garden and a window. Beneath the living room, there is an old wine cellar with ceiling made of bricks in which fragments of medieval ceramics were found during the restoration work. At the back of the house, you'll find a hanging garden, with a Chapel on one side, from which there is a splendid view of Florence, the "Arno Valley" and an ancient monastery on the opposite side of the valley. The history of "Casa Bertini" says that it was built in the 12th Century, as a small fortified farm guarding the fertile valley and road to Pisa. In the 16th Century, it was transformed into a Villa and a Chapel was added. During the 19th Century, it was owned by a rich upper-middle class family who made changes and innovations to the property. Thanks to the skill of the head of the family, it was the first house in the area to have electricity and a running water system. After the Second World War, the last owners left the villa, which then went to ruin. In 1989, the building came into the possession of the current owner who carried out important restoration work, respecting the original architecture and decorations. It has been furnished in style with old furniture that produces an overall pleasant and comfortable atmosphere.
