| A pleasant placer to stay among thermal spa centres, beaches, lovely old towns and the tastes of the past. |
On the road between Siena and Roma, right in the heart of the fine Maremma region, just a stone's throw from the thermal spa centres of Saturnia and from Manciano and Montemerano, the Quercia Rossa farmhouse residence is surrounded by hills blooming with olive and vine groves. It is just a few minutes, then, to get to the natural waterfalls and thermal spa centres of Saturnia, Capalbio and Sovana and the fine beaches in Monte Argentario. The farmhouse residence is in a great panoramic position and the farmhouse itself offers a lovely view of Mount Argentario and, further off in the distance, the Giglio and Montecristo Islands. On the clearest days, then, you can even see the mountains in Corsica
The farmhouse, then, with its fields of wheat and an age-old olive grove, which once belonged to the Friars of Vallombrosa in the Middle Ages, becomes one with the surrounding nature. Quercia Rossa has six large independent rooms and comfortable areas for relaxing and reading. In the rooms themselves, in a fine atmosphere, you can relive the atmospheres of the past created by the furniture from the Tuscan residence of an English traveller from the Victorian age, Mrs Augusta Belloc. The swimming pool, immersed among the olive trees, is for guests only. And the food here is great: based on local produce.
In the centre of the farm, you will find the lake, a great habitat for porcupines, wild pigs, turtles, hares, badgers, pheasants and several other species of bird. Not far off, you will find the Albegna River, whose quiet beaches offer the chance of a fine swim. The strategic position of Quercia Rossa also makes it the ideal starting point for discovering the wonders of the Maremma area, the Uccellina Park, the Orbetello Oasis and Lake Burano.
Quercia Rossa, then, is the ideal place for those looking for privacy and a holiday among the slow and relaxing rhythms of nature in contact with the magnificence of this area.
