REVIEW: A gem of a place: peaceful, friendly and warm, with a lovely courtyard outside.
Ideally located for walking to the Vatican, into Trastevere or into the city to see the major sights. The fact it's a lodging for Women Only means the atmosphere is relaxed - particularly good if you're travelling alone. I shared a dorm the first night, which I was apprehensive about, but everyone was very quiet & respectful. Thereafter, I was in a twin room with my cousin.
The rooms are quite bare, but lovely, with high wooden ceilings and terracotta tiled floors. Beds are comfortable with nice cotton sheets (and they're made for you every day!): but an extra pillow would have been welcome.
You share a bathroom / shower, so be prepared for a short walk to the nearest loo. Usually plenty of hot water, though 2 of the showers needed repairs.
Breakfast is included and is adequate: coffee / tea, juice, toast, cereal, cheese and ham - some fresh bread would have been fantastic.
Trastevere is a great place to relax after the bustle of the city. Much of it is pedestrianised. It's an easy stroll to some excellent friendly bars, restaurants & gelateria. I'm definitely coming back!
