Cascina Caldera |
|
| Interesting stay in the Monferrato Area a few Kmts from Turin and Asti, in the heart of Piedmont |
In Cantarana, just a few minutes from Asti, in a dairy farmhouse from the early Twentieth-Century which has been restored beautifully, the "Cascina Caldera" Bed & Breakfast is immersed among 20,000 square metres of surrounding green nature. All around the nearby hills, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views and go for lovely walks, hop on a bike or ride a horse. Cantarana, which is right beside three of the most well-known wine-producing areas in Piedmont (Monferrato, Astigiano and Langhe) is, then, the perfect place to start for discovering all these stunning areas.
The home-made bread and cakes and the food from the nearby orchard and farms, mostly biological produce, are used in your delicious breakfasts. In Summer, these breakfasts are served on the large terrace beside your Bed & Breakfast room and, in Winter, in the cosy Breakfast Room.
The B&B, which consists of three rooms on the first floor of the dairy farmhouse, has a shared entrance with the home and has two bathrooms, a large terrace and a Breakfast and Reading Room where you can also use the Internet at the B&B Guests' computer. All the rooms have been restructured elegantly to maintain the charming rustic atmosphere of these dairy farmhouses, with arched vaults and beamed ceilings.
The B&B guests are provided with a television, books and magazines, tourist information, use of the laundry room, equipment and services for infants and car park spaces within the farm. In Spring and Summer: table tennis, games for children and a green area. We speak English, German, Spanish, French and Russian here. We have some mountain bikes for those who want to visit the hills and surrounding areas, to enjoy this beautiful area in the calmest possible way: on bike. Or if you prefer, why not go on horseback?
Cantarana stretches for kilometres around the small town centre and consists of a whole series of tiny blocks of houses and farms scattered among the surrounding hills, among woods and lawns, all joined up by winding paths which can often only be passed on foot.
The town festivals, which run from early September to November, give you the chance to go back in time to experience this ancient countryside culture and to try wines like Barolo and Barbaresco in the Langhe area, Arneis, Roero and Bonarda in the Roero area and Moscato and Dolcetto in the Astigiano area. In the Alba area, don't miss the chance to try white truffles, a delicious treat which is just perfect with these local wines.
It is not far at all to get to see Vezzolano Abbey (15 km), which bears witness to Romanesque architecture in Piedmont, Castelnuovo Don Bosco Sanctuary (10 km) and other Medieval towns where you can relive old sensations and tastes, also thanks to the many festivals held, like the Chieri Festival in Spring.
From Cantarana, it is easy to get to the city of Asti. If you change province, you can get to Turin. Both of these places offer a whole series of monuments, churches, museums and exhibitions.
Cascina Caldera, then, is waiting for you, a place where you can enjoy a holiday marked out by old tastes. Discover here one of the most charming corners of Italy.
