Villa il Castellaccio with its Private Villa, 4 apartments, gardens and swimming pools*, lies in a panoramic position surrounded by peaceful vineyards and olive groves at Lucolena, near Greve, in the heart of the Chianti countryside. Strategically placed for Florence*, Siena, San Gimignano and Arezzo , it is Ideal for a holiday combining sight seeing and relaxation.

The complex has a Villa for 10-12 people, with a private garden & swimming pool** and 4 large apartments for 4-6 people, sharing another big swimming pool**, more gardens and a barbecue area complete with a wood burning oven for Pizzas where we also organize Pizza cooking classes.

The whole of the Chianti Area is at your feet - have fun visiting the lovely medieval towns like Greve, Castellina, Gaiole, Radda and San Gimignano and along the way, discover many typical restaurants, Castles, Wine Cellars & Nature Reserves; there is so much to see and do. The nearest local restaurants/pizzerias and little grocery stores are at Lucolena and Dudda ( both 1 km away).

We ourselves organise wine tasting and cooking classes and nearby you can go horse riding and play tennis and Golf. But after an exciting day out it's wonderful to get back "home" to the fresh country air and a dip in the pool!

For those of you who love History, the origins of Castellaccio go back to ancient Etruscan times, the little gravel lane running through the property is Roman and overlooking the main pool is the ancient 11th century church built in the Romanic style (presently a private home) Up on the hilltop is an ancient chestnut grove, where intrepid explorers can find the ruins of the original Castle "Castel d'Azzo", destroyed in the 14th Century strife between the Guelfs and Ghibellines.

*Pools open from 1 May to 30 September..and longer if the weather permits! *Florence is only a 20 minute train journey from the station at nearby Figline.

The apartament Castellaccio 3 is arranged to give hospitality to handicapped people. All units are self-catering.
