REVIEW: Mantua (Mantova) is a city not to be missed but is thankfully missed by many tourists and is therefore more of a quiet provincial ancient town but with wonderful buildings, churches & squares and a great atmosphere; surrounded on several sides by a lake.
Armellino is just off the main square and is portion of what was a palace. Beautifully restored it is full of atmosphere with massive bedrooms with really comfortable (large) beds & the wonderful breakfasts are served by the kind host in a lovely dining room. It is fantastic value. Dont be put off by the shared bathroom arrangement which caused little problem to us - it meant that on occations we had to dally a little longer in our wonderful bedroom
