The building of sixteenth-century origin, as testified by the elegant portal with archivolt that leans out on via del Bosco , was born as dwelling of Paolo Caggio, who founded here the Accademia dei solitari (Academy of the solitary ones). The suites, totally independent from the rest of the noble plan of palace Montevago, are apartments furnished with taste and sobriety , which preserve the traditional chest ceiling of the '500 carefully restored. These are endowed with kitchen, air conditioning, bath with shower, safety cassettes. Among the services features: change of the sheets and towels every three days, water, light, gas, air conditioned.
The native plant came subsequently restructured to halves the seven hundred one on project of the architect Giovanni Filingeri, brother of that Pietro's Filingeri brother prince of Santa Flavia (Saint Flavia), governor of the Nobile Compagnia dei Bianchi (Noble Company of the White ones) and founder and protecting of the accademia del Buon gusto (academy of the Good taste), one of the most known Palermo's academies, that really among these boundaries saw the light.
When then at the beginning of last century the ownership of the building pass to the princes of Gravinas of Montevago, the monumental prospectus was built on via Maqueda, unmistakable for the great coat of arms with the eagle of house Gravina that towers on the balcony of honour.
